Yesterday, we prayed for the hikikomori or the shut-in’s and isolated young people of Japan.
Today, I am going to ask for prayer for our family. For some reason in American Christian culture, it can be kind of awkward to ask for prayer for yourself. Perhaps pride makes us hide the needs we have and refrain from asking for prayer for them. Maybe it is because we have created a strange dynamic where it feels odd to pray for ourselves. Whatever it may be, I am going to ask you to pray for our family.
There are 3 things I am going to ask you to pray for today and as the Holy Spirit brings it to your memory:
- Pray for safety for us as we travel the west coast raising support. Missionaries put a lot of miles on their vehicles. It would not be unheard of for a missionary to be in Salem, Pendleton and Bend all in one day. The miles on the vehicles translates to wear and tear on every part of the car, with hours spent with other drivers around and road hazards everywhere. On top of the normal traveling, we have major trips coming up; one to Springfield, Missouri for 5 weeks of training, and one to Northern California in January. Please pray the Lord keeps us safe on the road.
- Can you pray that we will stay healthy on the journey? There is nothing like working when you are sick. Unfortunately in ministry you can’t take a break because you are sick. When you are the guest speaker, you have to show up and speak because the opportunity may not come back to you. It is also possible that if you don’t speak there may not be another speaker. Pray for all 5 of us to have health, strength, and stamina to do the work God has called us to do.
- Pray for our kids. I know we have talked about praying for MK’s and some of the things they face, but I can direct you toward some specifics to pray for regarding our kids. Please pray with us that they enjoy the adventure of missionary life. We pray our lives propel them to continue to serve the Lord, with their whole hearts for their whole lives. Our boys are excited about going to Japan (we think Addy is too, but we aren’t sure since she’s only 4 months old).
Thank you for praying with us. God is good and He hears and answers our prayers!
Financial Update 15
We started this campaign at roughly 8% of our budget raised, hoping to get to 10%. Today we sit at roughly 12%! Praise the Lord. Thank you for partnering with us to share the hope of Jesus with the unreached in Japan. We are hoping to get to 15% by the end of this weekend.
If you would like to help us reach our new goal of 15%, you can pledge monthly support or a one time donation by clicking here.
